Group home employee named Worker of the Year

Oct 1, 2015 From staff reports

Betty Porter, the program director for Fremont County Group Homes, recently was named the Wyoming Youth Care Worker of the Year by the Wyoming Youth Services Association.

She was a finalist against workers from Laramie, Gillette and Torrington.

"Betty Porter has been such an important piece of the excellent care that Fremont County Group Homes provides for its residents," her nomination stated. "Starting as a shift worker for the group home, she has worked her way up into the program director position, and has done this while going back to school to get her bachelor's degree."

Porter will be honored along with state legislators at the annual WYSA legislative breakfast Feb. 16 in Cheyenne.

Betty was nominated by Fremont County Group Homes executive director Jeff Verosky.

"We all appreciate Betty here at Fremont County Group Homes, and we know that many youth who come through our doors have in the past and will in the future," the nomination stated.
