Trinity Goggles led St. Stephen's with 22 points, while Kayle Addison added 15 for the home side in a 71-36 win over the Lady Broncs.

It's a challenge to score when you can't the ball past half-court.

The Cody girls junior varsity had that problem in the opening minutes at St. Stephen's on Friday evening with the Eagles defense swatting passes, stealing the ball off the dribble and consistently denying inbound passes in the Lady Eagles' 71-36 blowout of the young Broncs.

With senior Trinity Goggles denying the entry pass or hawking the ball in the backcourt, the Broncs turned the ball over on their first seven offensive series.

St. Stephen's excelled defensively, but couldn't find the mark in the first period and was as cold as the -27 temperatures outside the gym, missingeight easy layups in the opening minutes.

However, in spite of the poor shooting, St. Stephen's led 15-3 after one period.

Cody only shot the ball five times in the first period and hit just one shot.

Things warmed up in the second, with the Lady Eagles pouring in 21 points behind eight from Goggles and six by Kayle Addison.

Goggles paced the Eagles with 22 and Addison tallied 15.

St. Stephen's led by 30 or more points throughout the second half, but each time they came within a basket of implementing the mercy rule, the Broncs rallied to bring the margin back a few points.
