Kayle Addison led St. Stephen's with 18 points in an openin-round victory against the Lady Panthers.

On Thursday, the defending state-champion St. Stephen's Lady Eagles advanced to a 4:10 p.m.semi-final game against second-seeded Little Snake River at the Bob Carey Memorial Fieldhouse in Lander on Friday.

The Eagles survived a brutal battle with the Cokeville Panthers, 56-51, in opening-round action on Thursday.

The Panthers played a physical style and were whistled for 28 fouls, sending the Eagles to the line for 39 free- throw attempts.

The strategy worked well for the fourth-seeded Panthers, as they led the Eagles for most of the opening half.

A flurry paced by senior Kayle Addison at the end of the second period rallied the Eagles to a five-point lead at the break and that margin held for most of the remainder of the contest.

Addison eventually fouled out, but still led all scorers with 18 points.

With Addison on the bench, Martina Brown and Josette Oldman picked up the slack and led the Eagles to the win.

"We struggled getting our tempo," said St. Stephen's head coach Mike Redman. "We got it going by the second quarter. I told the girls to keep working hard after Kayle fouled and Martina and Josette stepped up their game and pulled us through. It was a good game."

Brown finished with 12 points, while Trinity Goggles and Angel Redman each scored nine.

Janetta Teichert led the Panthers with 17.
