'It does seem strange' not to elect the candidate who got most votes

I have been reading the letters and other comments about the electoral college in light of the presidential election. As Mr. Peck wrote at the beginning, it is strange there have now been two presidents out of three that didn't win the "popular" vote but still got in due to the electoral college.

People who like it and don't like it both have a point in how a few states can swing the whole election. That will always be true, no matter how we do it.

But we elect a president as a whole country. It does seem strange not to give it to the person who gets the most votes. Trump will be doubted for his whole term because of this alone. I have enjoyed reading the polite discussion.
