Dr. Henry H. Cook DVM of Newcastle, CA passed away on August 19th, 2017 at the age of 93.
Henry was born in Ravenna, NE on December 30th, 1923 to Lloyd L. and Emma Cook. Soon after, they
relocated to Paradise Valley near Riverton, WY where he was raised and graduated from Riverton High School. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, where he was a proud member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. While attending UW, he met Betty Bautch, who
he married on August 15th, 1947. Henry was accepted to Veterinary School at Colorado State University in Fort Collins and earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1950. He spent the next decade practicing medicine in Denver, where he and Betty started their family then later relocating to California. Henry
continued his veterinary career in California, where he was an active member of the Veterinary Medical
Association and received National Honors as an Equine Surgeon. His passion for raising horses began early in life. Over the years, he enjoyed tending to the health of horses in conventional and endurance races, also was the designated Head Track Veterinarian at various horse races throughout the State.
Dr. Cook performed his services for many Hollywood celebrities such as Ethel Merman, Wayne Newton, James Drury, Roy Rogers, William Shatner, and Ronald Reagan.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Bautch Cook, and sister-in-law Evelyn J. Cook.
He is survived by his five children; Christopher Cook (Bridgette), Carrie Bellacera (Tony), Denton Cook (Shari), Andy Cook (Maria), and Jan Bol (Pete); ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Additionally, his brother Kenneth Cook, niece Kay Seif (Leonard), and nephew Walter Cook (Joanne).
Funeral services will be held Monday August 28, 2017 4:00 pm at Chapel of the Valley, 97 Vernon St.,
Roseville, CA 95678. Reception to follow at 5:30 pm at Rocklin Community Center, 5480 5th St., Rocklin, CA 95677.
