St. Stephen's school begins to look for new principal

Oct 9, 2014 By Alejandra Silva, Staff Writer

Cheryl Meyers is serving as interim principal for St. Stephen's Indian High School after the departure of Susan Kinneman. Meyers was a teacher for a fourth-grade class at St. Stephen's Indian Elementary School for one month before being appointed to the principal vacancy.

Before arriving at St. Stephen's, Meyers was the associate superintendent at Monterey Peninsula Unified School District in Monterey, Calif., and assistant superintendent at Carbon County School District 1.

According to the school's website, the district will advertise for the high school position until Nov. 14. Meyers already has introduced an incentive program for the high school students this year.

Students are rewarded for positive behavior and good attendance with daily, weekly, monthly and yearly tickets that can be redeemed for prizes such as iTunes gift cards or sports event tickets, Meyers said.

Roughly 70 students are enrolled at the high school.
