Timber available for gathering west of Lander

Jun 28, 2015 From staff reports

A small amount of decked timber is available for firewood permit holders along Louis Lake Road on the Washakie Ranger District of the Shoshone National Forest.

The decked timber is located on the east side of the road between the entrance to Frye Lake and the Worthen Meadows turn-off. It is available to permitted firewood gatherers on a first-come basis. The wood must be gathered within the limits of the firewood permit. Arrangements to move the remaining firewood in the area to the edge of the road are in process, however, there is currently no off-road use authorized to gather this product.

Firewood permits may be purchased at the Washakie Ranger District office at 333 E. Main St. in Lander. The minimum purchase is three cords at a total cost of $22.50. Additional cords may be purchased for $7.50 per cord.
