Fatal accident Friday afternoon closed highway south of Dubois

Aug 4, 2015 From staff reports

A Dubois woman died Friday at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 26.

Reports state Judy L. Hollingsworth, 65, suffered fatal injuries in the incident, which took place at about 1:45 p.m. Friday about 23 miles southeast of Dubois.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says Hollingsworth was driving a 1984 Cadillac El Dorado that had left the highway to the south. Officials think Hollingsworth overcorrected the vehicle back onto the road, crossing the center line and crashing into a 2014 Chevrolet Express van driven by 20-year-old Sandra Robles of Los Angeles.

After the collision, the Cadillac reportedly left the highway, tripped and rolled down an embankment. Hollingsworth was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from her vehicle during the rollover.

The Chevy van was carrying 11 total occupants. Six of those people, including Robles, were transported by ground ambulance to a medical facility for treatment of minor injuries.

Impaired or distracted driving is being investigated as a contributing factor in the crash. Hollingsworth will not undergo an autopsy, according to the Fremont County Coroner's Office.

The crash caused temporary closure of the highway.
