Valid points on mental health; services are available locally

On July 22 David Monhollen wrote an excellent letter to the editor with the headline "Many who need mental health services don't seek them, often because they can't locate them." He explained that Central Wyoming Counseling Center in Natrona County is a non-profit mental health and substance abuse treatment center dedicated to providing prevention, intervention, treatment and support to anyone in the community, regardless of their ability to pay.

Fortunately, everyone in Fremont County also has access to this same quality professional care. Fremont Counseling Service has offices in both Lander and Riverton, with many highly qualified clinical staff to meet the needs of individuals of all ages as well as families.

We provide a free initial assessment followed by access to individual or group therapy, substance abuse evaluation, and parenting classes. For a full list of services and staff members, please see our advertisement in the Fremont County Fair special edition.

I encourage everyone to reach out for support if you or someone you know is in need of mental health services. The telephone number for the Lander office is 332-2231 and for the Riverton office 856-6587.
