Workers to spray trees in forest campgrounds

Aug 30, 2015 From staff reports

Spraying operations may start on or after Sept. 8 and should conclude before Oct. 1.

Several Shoshone National Forest campgrounds will be closed for one or two days this fall due to insecticide spraying.

The closure, which will help ensure public safety, will allow workers to apply Carbaryl to protect trees from bark beetle attack and to help retain green trees in the campgrounds.

Spraying operations may start on or after Sept. 8 and should conclude before Oct. 1.

Actual spraying dates may vary, because the work is weather dependent.

In the Washakie Ranger District, Louis Lake Resort, Louis Lake picnic area, Worthen Meadows and Fiddlers Lake campgrounds will be sprayed.

Falls Campground will be the only area sprayed in the Wind River Ranger District.

For specific closure dates, call the district offices on or after Sept. 8. The phone numbers for the Washakie and Wind River ranger district offices are 332-5460 and 455-2466, respectively.
