Explosives to be used in dam work

Sep 13, 2015 From staff reports

Explosives will be used during maintenance work this week on the outflow channel of the Shoshone Lake Dam in the Shoshone National Forest.

The work will be performed Wednesday through Friday, and the blasts may be heard up to 10 miles away.

Temporary closures will be in place to ensure public safety, and signs and personnel will be posted on the Shoshone Lake Road. Travel may be allowed in the area in between blasts, but visitors should expect up to a 30-minute delay during work hours.

The purpose of the project is to extend the service life of the Shoshone Lake Dam and ensure the continued safe operation of the structure.
