Suit to be filed in traffic death of RPD stafferNov 22, 2015 By Eric Blom, Staff Writer
The daughter of a woman killed by a drunken driver Nov. 13, 2014, has begun a wrongful death suit.
Court documents filed so far do not indicate who the woman intends to sue, nor do they describe much about the basis of the suit.
"The deceased died as a result of an automobile accident which occurred on November 13, 2014, in which her vehicle was struck by the vehicle of another person," read a petition for appointment of wrongful death representative.
Carolyn Whitman, 73, of Riverton, was driving on West Main Street in Riverton when she was struck. Reuben Revere, then 27, of Ethete, was intoxicated and driving a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban when he pulled out of College Hill Drive onto Main Street and collided with Whitman's 2004 Buick sedan.
Whitman suffered several in-juries and died Nov. 21, 2014, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.
She was an employee of the Riverton Police Department.
In the petition, Whitman's daughter, Nathanielle Whitman, asked to be appointed to represent her mother in the suit. District Court Judge Norman E. Young approved the appointment in an order on Nov. 5.
The driver of a third vehicle, Bernadette Brown, 44, of Riverton, suffered a separated shoulder.
Revere pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide in July as part of a plea deal Young sentenced him to five to 10 years in prison.
