Speakers sought for Career Day at Riverton High School

Jan 22, 2016 From staff reports

Riverton High School is seeking guest speakers for its annual career day set for Feb. 10.

This year marks the high school's third career day. RHS career development facilitator Tanya Santee said the school has hosted 50 to 70 speakers each year.

The goal, she said, is "to expose students to as many fields as possible and for them to start to make a connection between what they are learning in school and how it applies to the real world (and their) career choices."

Throughout the day, students will hear from different speakers in each class. The career and technical education department is looking for anyone in the community interested in giving 40-45 minute presentations and answering students' questions about what they do, why they chose that field and what career path, education and preparation led up to the position they hold now.

Speakers can bring tools, equipment, pictures, samples or PowerPoint, but it is not required.

Santee said the school is seeking more speakers in trades field.

Anyone interested in speaking can serving as guest speaker can contact Santee at 856-6557 or
