Tech changes now in place at Arapahoe District 38Mar 20, 2016 By Alejandra Silva Staff Writer
Fremont County School District 38, Arapahoe, has started to use Google Apps for Education - a digital learning platform that gives students and staff access to applications such as Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Scholar and Sites.
Fremont County School Dist-rict 25 in Riverton also recently implemented the model at the beginning of this school year.
Fremont County School Dist-rict 38 technology director Matt Ayers reported that there was positive feedback on the "ease of use" of the Google tools.
High school students and staff are also using Chromebooks to go along with GAFE.
"Employees are enjoying the ability to collaborate more effectively with other staff members through Google Drive and Google Calendar," Ayers reported to the school board during a recent meeting.
"Teachers also have confirmed their students are more engaged in the classroom because of the use of Chromebooks and Google Apps. ... It is very exciting to see students enjoying and using current technological devices and tools in the classroom."
Ayers said the district technology department has continued providing support to staff members who have questions about how to use the new platform.
District 38 staff started using Gmail before the school year began in September.
