Man found dead in house fire

The incident occurred early Wednesday in the 300 block of Market Street in Lander.

One person died early Wednesday in a structure fire in Lander.

The man's identity has not been released pending family notification.

Multiple agencies are investigating the incident, which was reported at about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday from the 300 block of Market Street.

The reporting party said she could see smoke coming from a residence across the alley from her home.

Lander Volunteer Fire Department chief Eric Siwik said when crews arrived at the scene, the structure was filled with smoke.

"Firefighters made entry and found one deceased victim before suppressing the fire," Siwik said.

LVFD is working with the Lander Police Department, Wyoming State Fire Marshal's Office and Fremont County Coroner's Office to determine the origin and cause of the blaze, which was contained in the one home and did not damage any other houses in the area.

Guardian Emergency Medical Services also assisted.

Officials remained on scene through the afternoon Wednesday.
