Health center opens next week in Riverton

Community Health Centers of Central Wyoming will open for business Monday at 2002 West Sunset Ave., Suite 2, in Riverton.

CHCCW includes the broad service coverage offered in Riverton for family practice and women's health. The location, next door to Fremont Therapy and close to SageWest Riverton, is aimed at providing easy access for patients, according to interim CEO Cole White.

"We're fortunate to find clinic space near the Riverton hospital. This is just one more step that CHCCW is taking to ensure that our patients receive the best of care," he said.

An open house and ribbon cutting is scheduled for Oct. 6 at 10 a.m., and he invites to community to attend and tour the facility.

White praised the medical staff and support staff at CHCCW, where the focus is family medicine and women's health.

Steve Jarrard, MD, and Tara Blumenshine, Certified Nurse Midwife, provide a variety of health care services to county residents, including family and internal medicine, women's health, physical exams for sports and jobs, laboratory work, chronic disease management, comprehensive well child care, pharmacy assistance and specialist referrals.

Jarrard brings 25-plus years of emergency room experience in Fremont County, along with his experience as a general practice physician to CHCCW.

He also is certified in American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Blumenshine's primary focus is women's health. She has six years of experience as an obstetric nurse with the Riverton hospital and has worked as a nurse for Four Corners and Fremont Community Health Center. She has a Master's of Science in nursing from Frontier Nursing University.

CHCCW is currently accepting new patients. To make an appointment, call 463-7160 Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or after-hours call235-2501or232-9991to reach an on call provider for the clinic.
