Rams pick up first win of seasonDec 16, 2016 By Randy Tucker, Staff Writer
It was a big day in a little gym for the Dubois Rams.
Dubois head coach Kyle Miller picked up his first win after returning as head coach of the Rams last season with a 46-32 win over Class 2-A Riverside in the Wrangler Tournament at Shoshoni.
The Rebels and Rams met in the practice gym at Shoshoni, a facility with a full court, but only limited seating on one side of the floor.
Dubois dropped a six-point decision to Farson-Eden the night before at home and the Rams were sluggish to open the contest, but steadily warmed up as the game progressed.
"We just couldn't hit layups and close range shots in the first half," said Miller.
Missed layups and follow shots by the Rams and long shots that careened off the backboard by the Rebels led to a low score at the half with Dubois leading 18-17, at the break.
Miller spent most of the halftime intermission working on a drill with the team shooting close- range shots. The impromptu coaching session paid off in the second half.
Dubois opened up in the third behind six points from Wade Beavers and five, including a 3-pointer, from Kyle Eulberg.
Defensively, they held the Rebels to just 15 points in the final 16 minutes.
Sean Mock had a good floor game, leading all scorers with 18 points, while Beavers was just behind with 16.
