Lady Rams outlast Rebels

It wasn't pretty, but Dubois slugged out a win over Riverside in opening-game action at the Wrangler Invitational Tournament in Shoshoni on Friday.

The Lady Rams outlasted the Rebels, 46-44, in overtime behind scoring form just four players, paced by 5-foot-11 sophomore Calyn O'Neal's 18 points.O'Neal hit five from the floor, but connected on 8-of-13 from the line in a game where a single missed free throw would mean the difference between a win and a loss.

Aubry Baker scored 13 and Katelyn Suda 11 for the Rams.

There were ample misses at the line between the two teams.Dubois hit just 15-of-34 attempts from the line and Riverside only 4-of-12.

The Rebels did connect from the cheap seats though, with 30 of their 44 points coming on 10 3-pointers, with six of those treys coming from junior guard Tyra Cheatam, who finished with 22 points to lead all scorers and hit all of Riverside's free throws as well.

Dubois held a one-point advantage at the half 23-22, but the rims tightened in the third and the Rams scored just two points while the Rebels hit for just four.

The final period of regulation featured the best shooting of the contest and with the score knotted at 39. it went into an extra four-minute period for overtime.

O'Neal, Baker and Suda all hit short-range shots in the overtime and Jaycie Wells connected from the line for seven points, which was enough to outlast Riverside, who scored just five on a Cheatam 3-pointer and follow shot by Ashtyn Hill.
