Lady Rams sweep pair of weekend games

Jan 31, 2017 By Randy Tucker, Staff Writer

Aubry Baker scored a career-high 27 points in a 48-44 home win against Burlington.

It was a big home stand for the Dubois Lady Rams with a pair of Class 1-A Northwest conference victories.

Dubois came from behind in the final period Friday night for a 48-44 win over Burlington behind a career-high 27 points by Aubry Baker.

On Saturday, the Rams beat Meeteetse, 38-29, to move to 3-1 in conference play.

Burlington was a seesaw battle from the opening tip, with the lead changing often in the first period and the Huskies edging the Rams by four points at the half.

The Rams clawed back to a single point by the end of the third and pulled ahead for good on 10 points by Baker in the period. Katelyn Suda was perfect at the free-throw line in four attempts, and the other three points came from a Calyn O'Neal post move and a free throw by Jaycie Wells.

Saturday's game was much more comfortable after the Rams put the defensive clamps on the Longhorns in the second period.

After an even opening period ended with the teams knotted at 10-10, Dubois held Meeteetse to just two points for the remainder of the half.

Leading 25-12 at intermission, Dubois held on through the second half, exchanging basket for basket until the final minutes of the game.

The Rams have a very tough challenge this week playing top-ranked and defending state champion St. Stephen's on the road.
