Lady Rams blitz Midwest

Feb 8, 2017 By Randy Tucker, Staff Writer

Dubois followed Friday's 66-27 victory with a loss to St. Stephen's on Saturday.

It was a tale of the two ends of the basketball spectrum for the Dubois Lady Rams last weekend as they were on the giving and receiving end of a pair of blowouts.

On Friday, the Rams traveled to Natrona County and routed the Midwest Oilers, 66-27, in non-conference action.

On Saturday, the tables were turned at St. Stephen's, where the defending Class 1-A champions rolled over the Rams, 89-51.

The St. Stephen's game was a Northwest Conference tilt and gave the Lady Eagles a sweep over the Rams in regular-season play.

Saturday's game was close at the start of both halves with Dubois staying with the Eagles and leading scoring in both the first and third periods.

The trouble for the Rams came in the second and fourth, where St. Stephen's combined for 61 points, including an incredible 34-point outburst in the final quarter of the game.

Eagle seniors Kayle Addison and Trinity Goggles did the bulk of the damage in the final minutes, with Goggles scoring nine and Addison 13 in the fourth quarter.

Addison finished with 30 and Goggles 22 points on the night. Addison was hot in the 27-point second as well, pouring in 10 points in the period.

Aubry Baker and Katelyn Suda countered for the Rams, with Baker hitting five 3-pointers en route to a 22-point game and Suda scoring 15.

Dubois 66, Midwest 27

On Friday, the Rams outclassed a struggling Oiler team from the opening tip.

Dubois jumped to an 18-2 lead and then mirrored the 18-2 performance again in the final period in the lopsided win.

Baker tallied 15 points as did Suda in the game, while Calyn O'Neal paced Dubois with 16 points, while Jaycie Wells finished with 10.

The Rams can take second place outright in the conference with a weekend sweep of Ten Sleep in their final home game of the season on Friday and an away game at Burlington on Saturday.

St. Stephen's travels to Ten Sleep on Saturday.
