Wyoming Indian finished off their regular season with an easy win against Wind River.

The Lady Chiefs put an exclamation point on their Class 2-A Southwest unbeaten season with a convincing 69-36 win over Wind River at Pavillion on Friday night.

The win lifts the Chiefs to 6-0 on the season in conference play and sends them into opening-round Class 2-A West regional competition against Shoshoni on Thursday at Riverton High School

Wind River is a rapidly-maturing team and came to play in the opening minutes, but a 14-2 run by the Chiefs over the late first and early second periods broke open the game and Wyoming Indian continued to roll with three consecutive 22- point performances before scoring just three points in a final period shortened by the running clock via the mercy rule.

The Cougars managed just a single free throw in the third period and the Chiefs hit the magic 40-point margin with 1:42 remaining in the same quarter.

A late rally by Wind River featured back-to-back treys by senior Shandi Nacota.

The Cougars finished third in the Southwest and will face Greybull in opening-round action at Central Wyoming College.

Wyoming Indian's standout senior, Amryn Brown, led all scorers with 24 points, with 12 of those coming in the opening period.

The Chiefs pressured produced nearly 20 Cougar turnovers in the opening half and Brown ran the floor with abandon on a variety of fast-break baskets. Sophomore Alex Trosper scored 10 points.

Tanisha Clair and Josie Oldman paced Wind River with seven points each.
