Car stolen in Lander; was left running

Apr 11, 2017 By Kelli Ameling, Staff Writer

Police are asking the community to help look for a vehicle that was stolen from a business during the evening hours Sunday, April 2.

According to police reports, Lander officers responded at 7:50 p.m. April 2 to the B&B Lounge on a report of a stolen vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle had left her 2007 Jeep Commander unlocked and running while stopping quickly to run into the establishment.

According to Lander Police Department administrative assistant Duane Kaiser, officers are following up on leads and potential suspects in the case but have not formal named a suspect.

The owner of the vehicle had left a cell phone inside the Jeep, which she was using to track the vehicle's location.

The suspect eventually ditched the cell phone in Riverton, though, causing the owner to lose track o the vehicle.

The LPD reminded people to always keep vehicles locked and not to leave keys inside vehicles.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the LPD at 332-3401.
