Loop Road campgrounds to be sprayed for bark beetleSep 3, 2017 From staff reports
Several campgrounds on the Washakie and Wind River Ranger Districts of the Shoshone National Forest will be closed for one or two days this fall to facilitate the application of an insecticide.
This closure will allow workers to apply the insecticide Carbaryl in an attempt to protect trees from bark beetle attack and help retain green trees in the campgrounds.
On the Washakie Ranger District, Louis Lake Resort, Louis Lake picnic area, Worthen Meadows Campground, and Fiddlers Lake Campground will be sprayed. Falls Campground will be the only site to be sprayed on the Wind River Ranger District.
Spraying operations are scheduled to begin on Sept. 7 and should conclude on Sept. 14. Actual spraying dates may vary, as this work is weather dependent.
For closure dates at specific campgrounds, contact the Wind River Ranger District office (307-455-2466) or the Washakie Ranger District office (307-332-5460).
