District 25 enrollment up 44 from first-day; still 26 short of 2016

Oct 5, 2017 From staff reports

Fremont County School District 25 in Riverton started this academic year with 70 fewer students than it had in the fall of 2016, but administrators say enrollment totals are on the rise.

By Sept. 22, there were only 26 fewer students than the year before.

One explanation for the decline may involve and increase in home-schooled students. More than 60 students are being home-schooled this year, compared to 54 last year.

Typically, there are 50-60 home-schooled students each year.

Declining student numbers have continued to be a concern for Riverton schools, which faced more severe cuts this year than most other districts in Wyoming since state funding is based in large part on enrollment totals.
