Rustlers women win golf tourney

Last week at the McCook Community College Invitational, Central Wyoming College's women's golf team cleaned up, claiming individual and team honors.

Samalie Prom won her fourth tournament in as many events on the individual side, while the Lady Rustlers lifted the team trophy with a one-shot victory over Otero Junior College.

Prom once again won in dominating fashion, posting a 94-87-181, good for a 21-shot victory over Caitlyn Jacobs of Northeastern Junior College.

Central's Kaylee Smith finished third (100-107-207), Tara Cottrill was seventh (116-105-221) and Ariana Curtis 10th (136-122-258).

The Lady Rustlers' team total of 446-421-867 was plus-291, just edging Northeastern by a single shot.


On the men's side, the Rustlers finished fourth with a card of 311-332-643 over the two-day event.

Leading the way for Central were Dawson Ritt (77-82-159) and Kaleb Spiva (75-84-159), who finished tied for 11th.

Central will next compete at Otero Junior College this week.
