Lady Wolverines can't hang on late in GR, thrashed by EHS

Feb 6, 2012 - By Craig Blumenshine Staff Writer

The Riverton Lady Wolverines fought hard through three quarters Friday night and only trailed by just one point heading into for the fourth quarter against Green River.

But RHS was outscored 23-6 in the final period in a 47-28 loss to the Wolves.

"It was a matter of us missing a lot of shots that we cannot afford to miss. They were point-blank. This is a team we were capable of beating, but they played harder and smarter in the last quarter than we did," Porter said.

The Lady Wolverines left 14 points at the free throw-line, shooting just 10-24 from the charity stripe.

"The good thing was that we had eight kids score," Porter said.

Hannah Svilar led Riverton with eight.

"Kyla Randall was a little more aggressive. She handled the basketball a little better," Porter said.

Amy Woodward also played well according to Porter.

On Saturday, the Riverton Lady Wolverines managed only six points in the first half and fell to Evanston 38-15.

Marcia Ashdown was Riverton's top scorer with six.

The Lady Wolverines will travel to Rock Springs this Saturday, Feb. 11, to begin the second round of the conference schedule. Riverton fell to the Lady Tigers

53-39 earlier this season in Wolverine Gym.
