Devon named a military-friendly employer by G.I. Jobs magazine
Nov 14, 2013 - From staff reports
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Devon Energy announced today that it has earned the 2014 Military Friendly Employer title by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse. Companies competed for the Military Friendly Employer title via a data-driven survey of more than 5,000 companies. Devon ranks No. 36 on the list of 100 companies recognized. Last year, Devon ranked No. 57.
The survey gauges programs and policies such as the strength of company military recruiting efforts, the percentage of new hires with prior military service, retention programs, and company policies on National Guard and Reserve service.
Working with the National Guard and other military organizations to place veterans in jobs at Devon, the company hired more than 65 in the past year, or about 9 percent of all new employees.
"Devon systematically seeks out qualified candidates for all positions and we have found that the military community is a great resource," said Frank Rudolph, executive vice president of human resources for Devon.
