Virginia I. Loree died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, after a lengthy illness. She was 91 years old.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at Davis Funeral Home. Pastor Dave Case will officiate.
Virginia I. Loree was born May 11, 1922, in Lander, the daughter of Dudley A. and Nelle (Davis) Ballinger.
She grew up in Iowa and eventually returned to Wyoming where she graduated from Lander Valley High School. She went on to attend St. Anthony's School of Nursing in Carroll, Iowa.
She married William (Bill) Loree of Riverton, and the couple moved to the Des Moines, Coon Rapids area of Iowa and eventually ended up in Pasadena, Texas. While there, Mrs. Loree worked as an industrial nurse.
Due to health issues, the couple retired early and returned to Wyoming where they built their dream log cabin overlooking the mountains that Mrs. Loree loved.
She and her family were active members of St. Pius V. Catholic Church and School. Her family said she was a deeply religious person, and she read and studied her Bible daily. She also had a deep love for God's grandeur and beautiful countryside.
Her family said she loved to travel the country visiting her family and friends. She passed along her love of picturesque views to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family said she was a voracious reader, and she was always working on a knitting or crocheting project. She loved to cook and bake, was an avid supporter of the arts, and was exceptionally proud of her children and grandchildren. Her family said she will be greatly missed and was the epitome of what unconditional love looked like, and she helped to instill that quality into the lives she touched.
She is survived by her son, Kins W. Loree; daughter Sheridan Loree Major of Bryan, Texas, and Riverton; grandsons David L. Loree II and his wife Milena of Katy, Texas, Brian C. Loree of Baytown, Texas, Eric D. Wallace and his wife Brandie of Marlin, Texas, and Steven P.
