Lady Chiefs win one on road, one at home

The Lady Chiefs continued to improve defensively with a pair of weekend victories over teams from Big Horn County.

Wyoming Indian traveled to Basin and handed the home-standing Rebels a 56-43 loss in the old quonset hut gym.

Greybull gave the Chiefs all they wanted for a half before Wyoming Indian rolled in the third for a 70-46 win.

The Chiefs host Kemmerer and Big Piney this weekend in Southwest 2-A action.

Anneshia Hill took her familiar role as floor leader for the Chiefs on both outings, with 19 points Friday and 15 on Saturday. The 5-4 guard dominated offensively and played well in the press to lead her younger teammates to the pair of wins.

At home on Saturday, the Buffs handled Wyoming Indian's pressure earlyR00; and trailed by just five at the half but a 14-2 Wyoming Indian run in the third ended any hopes of an upset by the visiting Buffs.

Loveeda White hit a 3-pointer and a trio of the two-point variety in the third to pace the run. She hit four from beyond the arc Friday en route to tallying a career high 14 points.

Jasmine McGill opened the final period with a 3-pointer, and Wyoming Indian led by 18.

The rally continued through the final minutes. with Kanani Washakie hitting a turnaround jumper and Kim Goggles converting a deft spin move for an up-and-under basket with 3:26 left.

Hill's 3-pointer put the icing on the cake, and the Chiefs finished the contest with reserves on the floor.
