Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Davis Funeral Home with Capt. Mark Merritt of the Casper Salvation Army officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. to service time Tuesday, Nov. 26.

Ruth Claire Putnam was born Dec. 8, 1928, in Van Buren, Mo., the daughter of George LeRoy Glenn Nelson and Birdie May (Smith) Croissant.

As a young girl, she attended the Emerson Elementary School in Kearney, Neb., and attended junior high and high school in Riverton. She briefly attended Casper College.

Her family said she raised her children on waitress wages. She also worked as a nurse's aid and housekeeper, and she took on other small jobs to make sure her children were cared for to the best of her abilities.

She maintained her own residence until her health no longer allowed it. She then lived with her daughter Lorie in Casper for roughly four years, and she moved to Fremont County about four years ago.

Her family said she enjoyed coloring, writing, plastic canvas and crocheting.

She also loved doing crafts and playing family games and her Nintendo. (She played Dr. Mario a lot.)

She is survived by her sons Danny (Sue) Green of Lander and Alan W. (Brandi) Putnam of Lander; daughters Betsy E. Green of Seattle, Shannon Y. Stanford of Longview, Texas, Bridget M. Block of Green River, and Lorie J. Jessup of Casper; grandchildren Toni, Marsha, Alicia, Michelle, Gloria, Jasmine, Aaron, Celeste, Dottie, Stefan, Leslie, Joseph, Angela, Teresa, Thomas, John, Anne, Susie, Michael, Bradley, Duane, Desiree and Damion; 48 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Cecil G. Nelson, Frances H. Nelson and Bobby L. Nelson; sisters Thelma and an infant sister; children Farris, Garry, Patricia, Ty, Todd and Elizabeth; son-in-law Dwight "Doc" Jessup; and great-granddaughter Stacie Wright.
