CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) -- Wyoming junior guard Luke Martinez will have surgery on his left wrist next week in Laramie.
UW assistant athletic trainer Dustin Enslinger says Martinez sprained the wrist and tore a ligament during UW's win over North Dakota State in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational on March 14.
Enslinger tells the Wyoming Tribune Eagle (http://bit.ly/HeWBS2 ) that X-rays showed no broken bones but the surgery will be done to see how the wrist can be stabilized.
Martinez says the surgery is being done to help ensure it doesn't become a problem his senior year.
Martinez was UW's third-leading scorer at 11.8 points per game last season.
Coach Larry Shyatt says Martinez should be able to participate in summer workouts.
