Nov 26, 2013 - By Katie Roenigk, Staff WriterPolice officials were building information Tuesday about an armed robbery that took place just after midnight at the Maverik Country Store on West Main Street in Riverton.
The employee at the store was not injured in the incident, which was reported at about 12:10 a.m. Tuesday.
The Riverton Police Department responded to the scene, but the suspect fled in an unknown direction.
RPD Capt. Eric Murphy couldn't say what kind of weapon was used in the incident, but the Fremont County Sheriff's Office report listed the event as a robbery with a "firearm."
Undersheriff Ryan Lee said deputies assisted in the search for the suspect.
RPD detectives and a crime scene unit were called to the location to process the crime scene.
It is unknown how much, if any, money or merchandise was taken from the gas station and convenience store at 1604 W. Main St.
Murphy said Riverton police chief Mike Broadhead was studying surveillance videos Tuesday morning.
"I will send (out) more information as I get it," Murphy said in a press release.
"The detectives are still in the process of working the case."
