Nov 27, 2013 - From staff reportsPreparations are being finalized for Thursday's Thanksgiving meal deliveries by the Riverton High School Key Club.
Hundreds of meals will be prepared in assembly-line fashion Thursday morning at the James H. Moore Career Center in Riverton, with student volunteers taking the hot food where ever it is requested.
Meal requests can be made by calling the Riverton Senior Citizens Center at 856-6332, and food donations can be made by contacting Claire Peart at 851-6507.
Peart, the Key Club adviser, said the students delivered nearly 500 meals last year, and that number could be exceeded on Thursday.
Anyone may request a meal delivery for any reason,
with no questions asked. A delivery address and the number of plates is all that is required.
Deliveries usually being in the late morning and are completed by early afternoon.
Food for the meals is donated by local merchants and concerned citizens.
Each meal is packaged individually with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potatoes, a salad, cranberries, pie and bread rolls.
Community members are encouraged to get in touch with the club if they'd like to contribute in any other way, such as meal assembly or loading vehicles for delivery.
