Nov 29, 2013 - StaffJ. Frank Deshler, of Dubois, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at the Help for Health Hospice Home in Riverton. He was 79 years old.
Per his request, cremation has taken place, and there will be no services.
John Franklin Deshler was born Jan. 23, 1934, in Fullerton, Calif., the son of Frank Gus and Lois Alma (Poindexter) Deshler.
He lived in Redlands, Calif., for most of his life and graduated high school in 1952. He joined the Navy just out of high school and served until 1954.
On April 14, 1955, he married Patricia "Pat" Bourret in Redlands, Calif. Together they raised two children, Randy and Sandy.
He owned an upholstery business, Deshler's Specialties, in Yucaipa, Calif., for 28 years. In 1989, he and his wife moved to Dubois.
He was a Mason in Redlands, Calif., and also a member of the National Rifle Association.
His family said he loved his family and taking care of them, and he enjoyed working and was a good handyman. They said he was always helping people in town with their projects and enjoyed every minute of it.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pat; son Randy Deshler and his wife Jodi of Yucaipa, Calif.; daughter Sandy Case and her husband Mark of Fullerton, Calif.; grandchildren Johnny Deshler, Alan Deshler, Lynelle Foster, Chad Case and Clinton Case and his wife Sarah; and great-grandchildren Hudson, Mike and Jaylynn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lois Deshler, and his sister, Lois Dorion.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Riverton.
