Dec 3, 2013 - StaffJudy Jane (Sothan) Ahrens died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, in Riverton after a yearlong struggle with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's disease). She was 57 years old.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Church of Christ, 39 Gas Hills Road, Riverton, with a burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Worland.
Judy Jane Sothan was born Aug. 3, 1956, in Casper, the daughter of Douglas and Jane Sothan. She was raised in Worland and later lived in Riverton and Lander.
She received her GED and took several college courses, and she worked as a cashier for many years.
She also participated in the Special Olympics.
She is survived by her former husband, Danny Ahrens, of Riverton; father Douglas Sothan; sisters Vicki Page of Worland and MaryAnn Allison of Raleigh, N.C.; and aunts, uncles, cousins and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Community Entry Services, 2441 Peck Ave., Riverton, WY 82501. Her family said the organization completely supported Mrs. Ahrens throughout her lifetime, and they are eternally grateful.
