Drug arrests follow discovery of rental car that was overdue

Dec 10, 2013 - By Katie Roenigk, Staff Writer

A man and woman from Las Vegas were arrested for possession of a controlled substance Saturday night after their overdue rental car was found abandoned near South Pass.

The reporting party said the gray 2013 Chrysler was on the side of the U.S. Highway 28 and looked "broke down" at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

The rental company that owns the vehicle indicated that it was overdue and asked that it be detained by authorities.

When a deputy responded to check on the vehicle, he said he saw the Chrysler headed toward Lander.

The vehicle was stopped and eventually was searched.

Vicky Nunez, 20, was arrested for possession of marijuana and interference with police, and Victor Nunez, 29, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

Officials said Vicky Nunez also was charged with interference after she lied about her identity for more than two hours.
