Dec 11, 2013 - StaffJune Folston Hornecker Smail, of Lander, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013. She was 84 years old.

June Folston was born June 4, 1929, in the Eden-Farson Valley, the daughter of Ethel (Binger) and Mitchel Folston. She remained in the valley during her early years and as a teenager moved with her family to the Lander area.
In 1947, she married Kenneth (Kink) Hornecker. They had three children, Mick, Marilyn and Marlene.
In July 1961, Mr. Hornecker drowned in a boating accident, and Mrs. Hornecker devoted her life to raising their children.
In 1993, she married David Smail Sr. with whom she shared many adventures, including traveling to Arizona in the winter months where they enjoyed the "snowbird" lifestyle.
Her family said she loved to camp, fish and garden and had a special love of roses. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, crocheting and later found it fun to gamble at the local casino.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Cal) Elger and Marlene (Blackhorse) Medina; stepsons Dave (Sandy) Smail and Scott (Joanne) Smail; brother Gail (Janet) Folston; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her infant brother, Benjamin Folston; son Mick Hornecker; mother Ethel Folston Anderson; father Mitchel Folston; sisters Gloria Ingle and Lavern Smail; stepdaughter Ann Marie Smail Nelson; and husbands Kirk Hornecker and David Smail Sr.
