Dec 16, 2013 - From staff reportsStudents from Lander Valley High School and Riverton High School recently competed in the Taco John's Culinary Competition finals.
The four teens battled for scholarship funds against eight other Wyoming students who also prepared and presented original menu items for the contest.
The Taco John's Culinary Competition began in 2005. It is open to all students participating in the ProStart program at a Wyoming high school. This year's contest focused on "snackable foods." Students from nine schools submitted 50 recipes.
The finalists from Fremont County were Alexis Gray and Silas Cleveland from Lander Valley High School, who prepared jalapeņo popper stuffed grilled taco, and Mikayla Pinson and Jana Schumacher from Riverton High School, who created a rice popper.
