Burly Sheridan thumps Wolverine boys 75-47

Dec 16, 2013 - By Craig Blumenshine, Staff Writer

Riverton is 1-3 on the season heading to this weekend's Flaming Gorge tournament in Green River.

A rugged Sheridan Bronc boys basketball team jumped on the Riverton Wolverines early and never looked back on their way to a 75-47 thrashing of the Wolverines in a non-conference Class 4-A game Saturday afternoon in Sheridan.

Riverton falls to 1-3 on the season. Sheridan, which beat Casper Natrona 69-55 Friday, remains undefeated at 4-0.

"It was the first game that we had really gotten handled this year. They got after us from the get-go and took it to us ,and we didn't respond very well," Riverton High School coach Dick Quayle said.

Riverton fell behind 8-0, 10-2 and 18-6 early.

"We didn't get good looks and had turnovers. It was a very physical game and inconsistently reffed. They let them hand-check and body us a lot. They are strong kids, and that bothered us," Quayle said.

Brandon Fullerton led Riverton scorers with 11 and was the only Wolverine in double figures.

The Wolverines have a tough weekend ahead and will play Cheyenne East, Gillette and Star Valley at the Flaming Gorge Tournament which begins play Thursday in Green River.

"It will be a tough weekend, but Austin Patterson (senior guard) will play and that will help," Quayle said.
