Dec 16, 2013 - By Craig Blumenshine, Staff WriterThe Riverton Lady Wolverines basketball team traveled to Sheridan Saturday and ran into a tough, athletic and physical Lady Bronc squad. Sheridan jumped on Riverton early and ran away with an easy 59-31 win.
"Their defensive intensity started to bother us, and we turned the ball over far to many times. In a lot of ways, we were our own worst enemy," Riverton coach Ron Porter said.
It was Riverton's (0-4) fourth loss on the young season, while Sheridan, with a loss to Casper Natrona 62-51 Friday, improved to 3-1.
Trinity Goggles, a freshman, led Riverton with 8 points.
Sophomore Robbi Ryan led Sheridan and all scorers with 12.
"If we can find a way to relax and play, we will be a better team," Porter said.
The Lady Wolverines will play Cheyenne East , Gillette and Star Valley at the Flaming Gorge Tournament which begins play Thursday in Green River.
"It doesn't get any easier," Porter said.
Gillette is the second-ranked team in Class 4-A girls basketball, Cheyenne East is ranked fourth in Class 4-A, and Star Valley is ranked second in Class 3-A.
