WIHS girls win two games this weekend, looking forward to classic with Wind River

Dec 17, 2013 - By Randy Tucker, Sports Writer

A lot of questions were answered this weekend for the Lady Chiefs of Wyoming Indian.

The team swept the Billings Tournament after a Thursday evening loss to Lovell in Big Horn County.

Wyoming Indian blew out Northern Cheyenne 68-24 on Friday, then did the same to Brockton, Mont., on Saturday via a lopsided 80-35 score.

The Chiefs defense was stellar in the opening minutes against Northern Cheyenne. WIHS limited their opponents to just two points in the first and only six in the second period to build a huge 39-8 lead by the half.

Loveeda White had an outstanding all-around game, pacing Wyoming Indian with 27 points.Brindi Lock was steady in the post with 13.

Brockton made a game of it in the opening half, trading baskets with the Chiefs to open the game. The score stayed within six through the early second period, when Wyoming Indian finally broke into their style of fast tempo play and put the game away.

The second half was all Wyoming Indian, with head coach Aleta Moss emptying her bench and all 12 girls on the roster scoring.

Wyoming Indian gets a taste of the Eastern 2-A region this weekend when they co-host the East West Classic with Wind River.

The Lady Chiefs open play at 4:30 p.m. Friday at home against perennial 2-A East power Big Horn. On Saturday they play Wright and Tongue River.
