Christmas events start Sunday for several churches

Dec 20, 2013 - By Katie Roenigk, Staff Writer

With Christmas in the middle of the week this year, many churches in Riverton are celebrating the holiday early, with traditional services on Sunday.

The Lighthouse Bible Church, which meets at the Holiday Inn, 900 E. Sunset Dr., will be having its "near" Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. Sunday. The program includes several congregational Christmas songs, individual and group songs, scripture readings about the birth of Jesus Christ and a message about "God's great gift."

Everyone is welcome to participate in the time of worship, praise and reading of the Bible.

On Sunday morning, the Wesley Bible Missionary Church will meet at its regular time, 10:50 a.m., at 800 S. Broadway, for an annual Christmas program.

At 11 a.m. Sunday, the Missouri Valley Church at the Missouri Valley Rec Center/Club House will have a song service with special Christmas music.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints invites visitors to its special Christmas services, which will take place at all three Riverton wards on Sunday. At the church at 430 Elizabeth Drive, services will be offered at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Christmas observances will include musical numbers involving ward choirs, children's primary choirs, young women's groups, a flute duet, a violin trio and vocal solos.

Scripture readings should be expected, with organ and piano selections presented for congregational singing.
