Dec 20, 2013 - From staff reportsMembers of the Elks Lodge in Riverton hope to deliver 150 holiday meals to local families next week, but the group needs more donations from residents.
People are invited to bring canned goods and other food to an event at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Elks Lodge, 207 E. Main St.
"We're still really needing turkeys," Elks exalted ruler Cory Wright said.
The group will assemble the holiday meals Monday evening and deliver them Tuesday.
"We have turkey, milk, bread, eggs, celery, potatoes ... pretty much everything to make a good Christmas dinner," he said. "Then we fill the boxes with canned goods until we run out."
Santa will be present at the Sunday event as well. Parents are asked to bring a gift if they want Santa to give their child a present. Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided by the Riverton DOES.
For more information, call the Elks at 856-3600.
