A son was born to Tishina Duran and Charles Hereford, of Ethete, at 1:03 p.m. Nov. 30, 2013, at Lander Regional Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces.
A son was born to Cheyenne Rising Son, of Arapahoe, and Jarret High Bear, of Eagle Butte, S.D., at 3:51 a.m. Nov. 4, 2013, at Riverton Memorial Hospital. He weighed 9 pounds, 8 ounces.
A daughter was born to Marni and Brian Marso, of Douglas, at 2:25 p.m. Oct. 29, 2013, at Wyoming Medical Center. She weighed 5 pounds, 2 ounces. The grandparents are Dennis and Cindy Shute, of Riverton, and Garland and Jeane Marso, of Douglas.
Iva Deane Varah Bateman, 94, formerly of Shoshoni, died peacefully in her sleep Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at Pioneer Manor in Gillette. Per her request, cremation has taken place.

MorningStar Rose Jealous of Him died Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. A visitation will be at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at Blue Sky Hall in Ethete and will last all night at the same location. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24.
Baudie Romero, 81, formerly of Riverton, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, in Gordonville, Texas, surrounded by his children.

In Fremont County Sheriff's Office reports Thursday to Friday morning:
- Brandon Carl Smiley, 28, of Riverton, was arrested for vandalism/property destruction and bond revocation Thursday evening on Y Drive north of Riverton. Officials said Smiley was drunk and disorderly, and according to initial reports, he attempted to use a rock to assault a man in the area at about 11:30 p.m. Smiley reportedly also was fighting with a woman at about 11:40 p.m.; she was taken to the Center of Hope in Riverton.
- During this timeframe, the Fremont County Emergency Dispatch Center took 40 calls for service, including one involving a motor vehicle accident. County ambulances were dispatched 11 times, and area fire departments responded to nine calls for help. Four people were booked into the Fremont County Detention Center for charges, including one for driving under the influence, one other alcohol-related charge and seven misdemeanor charges. The center currently is responsible for 145 inmates, including 134 at the facility, five in substance abuse treatment programs, one on home detention and five elsewhere.
