Dec 22, 2013 - From staff reportsA "skimmer" was found Tuesday at a truck stop in Cheyenne.
The device is used by criminals and is affixed to ATMR00;and other card readers to swipe credit and debit information when customers use their cards.
The device was an older type of skimmer that does not use Bluetooth therefore requiring the subject to return and retrieve it. It was discovered at the Exxon fuel station at 2310 W. Lincolnway.
Consumers are advised to monitor their accounts and statements, and to report any noted criminal activity.
Reports show that all financial institutions are at risk, and fraudulent ATM withdrawals are usually under $500, but there may be more than one.
Gas station staff should remain vigilant of any suspicious activity and inspect the pumps to identify and report any skimmers.
