Dec 26, 2013 - The Associated PressROCK SPRINGS -- Sweetwater County had the highest number of fatal crashes involving alcohol in 2012, followed by Campbell County.
A report from the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police says there were six fatal drunken-driving crashes in Sweetwater County last year. Six people died and 12 people were injured.
In Campbell County, five people died in five alcohol-related crashes and four others were injured.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation says there were 971 DUI crashes statewide in 2012. Forty-one of those claimed lives.
About a third of last year's crashes happened on Christmas and New Year's.
The data are delayed by a year because investigators and auditors must re-confirm every reported DUI death across all 23 counties before the final tally is certified.
