Riverton man OK after night spent in vehicle

Dec 27, 2013 - From staff reports

The 32-year-old Riverton man who was the subject of a search and rescue operation on Christmas Eve was reunited with his family members at about 6 p.m. Tuesday.

He was not injured.

Officials said the man's vehicle had gotten stuck Monday afternoon near a mine location at the Gas Hills Uranium District east of Riverton.

He spent the night in his vehicle and waited for a weather system to move out of the area on Tuesday before walking to a nearby road, where he was found and taken back to Riverton.

Three fixed-wing aircraft participated in the search along with several Fremont County Search and Rescue volunteers on the ground.
