Stanley West Shakespeare died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at the family residence. He was 24 years old.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at Blue Sky Hall with Catholic clergy and Bryce Roberts officiating. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at St. Joseph Catholic Church at Ethete with a wake to follow at the family residence, 746 White Hawk Circle, Mill Creek Housing, Ethete. Interment will be in the Shakespeare Family Cemetery at Ethete.
Stanley West Shakespeare was born June 29, 1989, in Lander, the son of Cedric Shakespeare Sr. and the late Rita Shakespeare.
He was a lifelong resident of the Wind River Indian Reservation. He attended schools at Wyoming Indian, Sherman Indian School and Lander Valley High School.
His family said he enjoyed going to the casino, cruising around with his friends, being with children and helping them in any way he could, and being around his family and friends.
He is survived by his father, Cedric Shakespeare Sr.; sisters Maria and Cecelia Shakespeare; brother Cedric Shakespeare Jr.; grandparents Bobby and George West and Larry Black; aunts Francine, Vickie, Vernita and Lynelle Shakespeare, Judy Bell, Mona Hungary, Elizabeth Antone, Norma and Kimberly Black and Mary White Hat; uncles Jim and R.J. Shakespeare, Darrell O'Neal, Cecil Black, Eugene Black Bear and Charlie and Cryil Martinez; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Shakespeare; sister Krista Ferris; brothers Bill and Brandon Ferris; grandparents Roberta Black, Mary Christine, Nickerson John and Richard "Big Rock" Shakespeare, Maria Martinez and Linda Friday; aunts Rosie Antelope and Justina Leonard; and uncle Medford Shakespeare.
