Gabriel 'Gabby' Merton Shotgun Sr.

Gabriel "Gabby" Merton Shotgun Sr. died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, in Billings, Mont. He was 42 years old.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Blue Sky Hall with George Wells officiating. An evening service and wake will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Blue Sky Hall and will continue at the Alicia Armajo residence, 405 Blue Sky Highway. Interment will be in the Friday Cemetery in Ethete.

Gabriel "Gabby" Merton Shotgun Sr. was born Feb. 24, 1971, in East Los Angeles, Calif., the son of the late John Samuel Shotgun Sr. and Byrdie Lou Pike.

He was raised in East Los Angeles, Calif., and attended Lincoln High School.

He worked in construction for most of his life.

His family said he enjoyed drawing, cooking and being around children, especially his two sons.

He is survived by his mother, Byrdie; sons Gilbert and Gabriel Shotgun Jr.; sisters Rechanda Almaguer, Rene Wildcat, Lisa Pike, Sharon Addison and her husband Al, Ramelda and her husband Norman, Kenzie Hope and her husband Charlie, Jenny Brown and family, Cara Moon and family, Eva and Maiff and family, Eunice McAdams and family, Victoria Marquez and family, Julene Todd and her husband Calvin and family, Haroldine Whitewolf and family, Zola Killsontop, and Orleana Killsontop; brothers John Shotgun Jr., Daniel Shotgun, Gilbert Gonzales, Arleigh Jo and Carlene, Brian Groesbeck and family, Gilbert Shotgun and family, and George and Becky; numerous grandchildren; grandmother Kay Numata; aunt Carmen Crasium and Theresa Wells and family; uncles Danny Duryea, Willard Gould, Merton Trosper and family, and George and Imogene Wells; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents Constance Shotgun and Reshanda Pike; aunts Ruth Sanchez, Sally Marquez, Mary Bell Armajo, Pearl Brown and Elmira Shotgun; and uncle Jr. Boy Gould.
