LOVELL -- The Western Sugar Cooperative has shut down its sugar beet processing plant in Lovell while federal and state regulators inspect the facility following a fatal accident.
Twenty-eight-year-old worker Anfesa Galaktionoff died Jan. 4 after she apparently fell into a piece of equipment that carries sugar beets into the factory.
he sugar refinery resumed operations Jan 5. Then on Friday, the plant shut down again for an inspection led by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Bridge to close
WORLAND -- The Wyoming Department of Transportation plans to close a bridge in Worland for inspection later this month.
The department announced that it plans to close the Culbertson Avenue bridge on Jan. 22. The closure will start at 8 a.m. and will remain closed until the work is complete.
Crash spills hot oil
LOVELL -- A tractor-trailer crash has spilled some 2,500 gallons of hot oil near Lovell.
The driver was treated at a hospital and released but was cited for driving too fast for the weather conditions at the time.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol says the crash happened at about 9:45 Tuesday morning on Wyoming Highway 310 five miles south of Lovell. The tractor-trailer was also pulling a pup trailer when the combination went off the road.
